A pair of early, large blue and white faience candle holders modelled as a seated roaring lion with its tail wrapped around its body, presenting a turret enclosed by foliage with its front paws, on an oval pierced and swirled base. Handmade, in underglaze blue. Circa 1870. In excellent condition. Marked. Measures: H 24. 0 cm. x W 14. 0 cm.
