Bird Head Tolkniv Dated 2002 Glazed in a celestial blueGene was charmed to see how adding an eye to the shaped wood of the knife handle could so convincingly evoke a simple bird form. This is a Tolkniv (work knife) although embellished with sterling silver sculpted to the red leather sheath, which is also pouted into the suggestion of a wing. The red stained handle is birch burl flamme birk, flame birch from Norway, a traditional material for knives. Gene makes belt carry strap and solders a sterling loop
