She was a mystic devoted to the Passion of Christ. Her beloved mother died when she was young, as did some of her siblings. She turned down two marriage proposals and instead helped raise her surviving siblings after her father died. On June 8, 1899, at the age of 21, she began to display signs of the stigmata. She had conversations with her guardian angel, Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and other
